Grace is one of the most talked-about words in Christianity, yet one of the most misunderstood. Many people live as though God's acceptance depends on their performance, carrying an earn-your-way mindset into their relationship with Him. But the gospel is not advice on how to save yourself. It is news about what God has already done. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day, and that gift is received, not achieved. The right posture before God is open hands, not clenched fists full of good deeds. When grace is truly believed, it produces humility, frees us from being defined by our past, and changes the way we live today. Our work becomes the fruit of grace, never the price of it.
